A community of homeowners, students & faculty, and business owners

Coming together to rejuvenate a place with strong history...

And a new future.

Dr. Robert Davis, Board Chair of East Market Street Development Corporation and Robbie Perkins, Mayor of Greensboro at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Jonesboro Landing Apartments

Greensboro- Jonesboro Landing was a set of abandoned apartment buildings until about a year ago. The buildings were boarded up and had become an eyesore in the community. The Jonesboro Scott Park neighborhood "needed a visible sign of success and of things turning around," said Russ Clegg, Interim Manager of the City of Greensboro's Long-Range Planning Division.

A public-private partnership, led by the City of Greensboro and East Market Street Development Corporation, removed the eyesore and replaced it with a significantly improved apartment complex. More than $400,000 in grant funds came through the City of Greensboro to complete the project.

Weaver Cooke Construction and C2 Contractors, a historically underutilized business (HUB), partnered to complete the renovation project on time. The renovation project used more than 41 percent minority and women-owned businesses.

Phil Barnhill, Director of Operations, emphasized that East Market Street Development Corporation is a community development organization committed to improving the quality of life in East Greensboro.
